Hunky, the Film

IMG_2694_edited_edited.png

I'm doing research for a documentary about the term "Hunky" which had been used as an ethnic slur, but has since been re-imagined in many of our communites as a source of pride. Do you eat "hunky food," listen to "hunky music," or live in a "hunky neighborhood?" Do you remember hearing stories of "hunky" being used as a deragatory term? Do you call yourself "hunky" with pride?  If so, I'd love to hear from you to help me gather information for this film.

Please contact me at tara@citizenoftheoldcountry.com  Thank you!

Being a Hunky is about a lot more than stuffed cabbage... but it's an important part! My grandmother used to measure the suitability of my boyfriends by whether or not they liked "Hunky food!" :-)
